This year, J.G. Knol Technical Institute accepted Adukroman Foundation’s 2024 Waste Recycling and Garden Project Challenge. Last year, the Foundation extended the challenge to both Presbyterian Senior High Technical School and J.G. Knol. The former exceeded the Foundation’s expectations, winning the challenge and receiving a prize of 5,000 Ghana cedis.
In 2024, J.G. Knol was given the opportunity to redeem itself. With the excellent leadership of Mr. Patrick Kweku Abotsi, the new headmaster, the school rose to the occasion. They acquired additional land, began work immediately, and soon had a bountiful harvest of garden eggs, okra, cabbage, and other vegetables. These were used in the school kitchen to prepare meals for the students,
and even some senior citizens in Adukrom received produce from their hard work.
As technology advances and new career opportunities emerge through social media, the Adukroman Foundation hopes to make farming more attractive to the youth.
Programs like the Foundation’s Waste Recycling and Garden Project aim to showcase the benefits of local farming. By using organic waste to grow food, the project seeks to reduce reliance on imported synthetic fertilizers, promote prolific harvests, and contribute to mitigating global warming.
